Tank clean, decommission and removal – Broadstairs

Tank clean, decommission and removal

Fujifilm required three steel chemical tanks removing from their Broadstairs Speciality Ink Systems R&D manufacturing facility. 1st Industrial and Commercial Services specialist experience meant that the project progressed without a hitch. We spent five days in Broadstairs on this job.

Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems R&D manufacturing facility Broadstairs is an 8000m2 site (with an additional 4000m2 product warehousing space) housing a large research and development team. Constantly busy and working to the control standards expected of an international organisation at the cutting edge of the print and film technology industry, any shutdowns or unnecessary plant interruptions need to be avoided at all costs.

With more than 30 years of experience in the decommissioning and removal process from sites such as these, 1st Industrial and Commercial Services were recently tasked with the cleaning, decommissioning and removal of three steel chemical tanks from the site. Deploying a vac tanker to facilitate thorough cleaning, scaffolding to ensure access was then set up along with a necessary boom lift. On lifting day, additional support was provided by a 40-ton crane and HIAB. With the tanks removed from their location, they were then laid efficiently (top and tail) onto a waiting transport vehicle.

The project ran without a hitch, the team receiving praise for the smooth running operation.
